Bird Walk with BirdLife South Africa and the Cornell Lab – 25 and 26 Sep 2026

Ready to enjoy Johannesburg urban birding at its best?🐦

Join the team from BirdLife South Africa and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology for a morning bird walk! Whether you’re opening Merlin for the first time or you’ve already been birding for years, join us for a morning of birding, where we’ll explore two of Johannesburg’s most popular urban birding locations. Two hours dedicated to birding basics, the ‘the how to’ on bird identification, and getting started with bird sound recording. Bring your binoculars, curiosity, and your phone.

Join us, and discover just how much there is to see and hear when you take a moment to slow down, look up, notice, and go birding!
